Wright Elementary elementary school 2019

Wright Elementary is a water-focused, net-positive, retrofit school that aims to reduce Tucson’s non-renewable energy and water demand. Wright Elementary’s goal is to be able to produce more than enough renewable energy to meet its own demand and also distribute excess energy to the surrounding low-income neighborhood. As an integral part of a new regenerative micro-community called SunBlock, Wright Elementary will serve its target market, the nearby under-resourced neighborhood, by serving as SunBlock’s community center during non-school hours. In conjunction with the other SunBlock projects, the elementary school will contribute to the ultimate goal of making the entire SunBlock net positive.
