This new approach is to introduce an affordable new build home appropriate for the majority of Tucson lots in historic older neighborhoods and economic affordability. The house will help support neighboring homes in conjunction with the rest of the Sun Block. A large PV array sends electricity to an air-to-water heat pump, which in turn charges a thermal storage tank. The thermal storage tank is connected to a neighborhood-size district energy loop. Our initial estimates are that each home built with our design could provide enough surplus thermal energy to provide thermal comfort for one existing home in the neighborhood.
